Retail recruitment and sports-tourism strategy contracts approved

The City Council approved three economic-development consulting contracts on May 5, 2026: Sports Facilities Advisory for sports-facility planning ($48,500, phased), Retail Strategies for retail-recruitment consulting ($45,000 a year, three-year term), and Golden Shovel Agency to build an “Economic Gateway” recruitment website ($37,000 the first year). Together they put Yukon in the business of actively recruiting retailers and sports tourism rather than waiting for developers to come to the city.

What it means: Professional recruiting firms now work Yukon’s retail and sports-tourism pipeline full time.
